Sources

Sources Policy

The source policy for Echoes of Antiquity: primary texts, reliable modern references, institutional resources, and no invented citations.

Preferred Sources

When primary sources exist, they are preferred as the starting point for ancient testimony. These may include literary texts, inscriptions, archaeological reports, coins, monuments, or ancient historical traditions.

Modern references are used to contextualize, compare, and question ancient testimony.

Reliable References

Useful references can include museums, universities, UNESCO, Encyclopaedia Iranica, Britannica, Livius, Perseus, LacusCurtius, ToposText, academic publishers, and comparable resources when relevant.

The site does not invent sources, links, quotations, dates, or scholarly debates.

Article Sources

Source sections should remain clear and verifiable. When possible, they should distinguish ancient sources, modern studies, and web resources.

If a source cannot be verified safely, it should be left as a TODO rather than fabricated.
